Holiday's End

All good things must come to an end, and today was the day our holiday visitors had to return to Toronto. We got up early, packed up the bags, loaded the car and headed for Owen Sound to get them all to their bus. In a fit of palendromic planning, our holiday ended as it began, at Pizza Hut where we all took Brendan's PSI Test...

Here's an aside on combinatorics: Guessing the suit of facedown cards, there's 4 possible answers and 4 possible guesses, so what is the probability? 1 in 4 or 1 in 16 or something else? Curiously, out of 50 cards (2 aces missing) and 4 test subjects, we all scored 14/50. It made us wonder how many other textbook assumptions on probability have been empirically tested ...

From The Hut, we were off to the mall to cruise the new retro candy shop and knock about in Zeller's, from there to the Sally Ann Thrift Shop (where's there a 1900 Heinzman piano ... although in pretty rough shape) and from there, once we'd re-located Kaelin the Wanderer (just short of needing glycerine for mama), to the bus station just in time to nab the driver and get the luggage bays re-opened.

We miss them already.

Grandma Murphy had perfect timing this year: The cookies and Christmas snacks she sent out precisely lasted to the last day, as did the Cheerios, so after the bus station, we did a bit of grocery restocking before heading back to our now quiet and spacious beachhouse.
