Linux gets Voicemail

It's been out for a week, but I finally took time out to install the new VOCP Voicemail System update -- I've been waiting hundreds of years for this ...

Lack of this most basic of all office functions has long been a thorn in the side of Linux, but no longer: Voicemail has finally come to the Linux space, and in a big way.

Dig this: structured mailboxes, shell commands, faxbacks, announcements and scripts, it can read back emails, handles caller-id, faxes, email notifications (optional message attached), operated over a slick desktop panel, a web-based read/download interface or over the handset, and it comes with easy system tools for setting up and testing your mailboxes. As if that weren't already enought, VOCP also has clear install docs, an active mailing list where the author participates, and, unlike aging Hylafax, VOCP works with modems still on the market ;)

Oh, did I mention it's GPL? The pet project of Pat Deegan at PsychoGenic.

ahhhhh ... free software perfection ...
