Les Invisibles

It's funny. Three years ago, I made the cover of the Sun-Times as the local boy who minded the Olympics for one national media franchise; this time around, I'm twice over as wired to the machines that go ping, watchdog for a notch deeper eco-layer and feeding hundreds of franchised outlets, and nobody wants to know my name.

Add some irony to the mix, James credits me for granting him leave to ignore the games while I'm gumshoe duty-bound to be twigcrack aware of even the most minute results and schedules like Extra Lightweight Judo.

So, if you're among those who can choose to watch, do remember us, Les Invisibles -- take some small note in your heart of the olympian endurance of the countless heroes minding routers, servers, switches and all their virtual and physical links, those who answer the midnight phones, rake the tracks of dew, aim the lights, catch the spills, powder newscaster noses ... there's more to this thing than just superficial boardroom greed and nubile bods
