Tell me, what sort of country do you have if it is not your government or even the judges who make your censorship laws, but the big-money corporate lawyers? Oh, wait, no, doh-- I already know that answer! What sort of country? "America" ...

We received a letter from a lawyer represeting the CRIA, they were threatening with legal action and We need to start blocking Canadian traffic because of this. If you reside in Canada, that is the reason you are being redirected to this message. Thanks for your understanding, and sorry for any inconvenience.

Do tell. Here we are deriding China for its ineffective gagging of the Internet, while smugly doing the same thing here at home, only far more effectively. And so, now, with the pesky fair-trading now removed from the Laws of this Land Of Ours, will the Gucci-suited vampires at SOCAN and the CRIA kindly refund the royalties they had Ottawa levy on all our recordable media these past three decades?

Didn't think so.

Well, that's ok, guys, we understand. It is nice to know that we're only as welcome to free speech as Thailand, but we do understand. We understand so well, in fact, that the Faculty of Law in our own flagship University has already been working long hard hours routing around your blocade. So there.

Can't wait to hear what our True North Freedom Fighter Pop-Stars will have to say about this one.

Another evil pirate nipped.

Another evil pirate nipped. His horrible crime? Doing for musical ensembles what Project Gutenberg did for educators by making quality score prints of public domain music freely available to anyone who wants one, completely within the bounds of the law of This Land of Ours where he lived. Unfortunately, Universal Editions USA didn't like it:

"after lengthy discussions with very knowledgeable lawyers and supporters, I became painfully aware of the fact that I, a normal college student, has neither the energy nor the money necessary to deal with this issue in any other way than to agree with the cease and desist, and take down the entire site"
